Austin Lean Startup MeetupNovember 20, 2012
One of the top questions asked is “how do I find early customers”. Failing to build a significant path to customers is one of the top reasons startups fail. The good news is you don’t need a scalable channel from day one. Rather you need to first expend effort identifying and qualifying who your early customers truly are.
Typically this is done through a handful of customer interviews but what if you have no path to customers day one? That’s where cold calling prospects comes in. Yes, response rates are typically low. Yes, cold calling scares most people. But you can make this work.
In the next meetup, you’ll learn to connect with cold contacts by email, phone, or otherwise. Robert Graham literally wrote a book on “Cold Calling Early Customers”. Whether you need to improve your customer development or increase your sales leads, he’ll show you techniques that work.
Cold approaches meet Lean thinking.
