Our new 22,000 square foot coworking space in Austin has been open for business for about 3 months and it’s already full with a waiting list. More than 100 entrepreneurs are working from the top floor of Austin Centre at 7th and Brazos downtown. We’ve given hundreds of tours.

We’ve got some great companies working there now and we are ordering more furniture that will double our capacity by the end of the year.

Just as exciting as the companies that are calling Capital Factory home are the meetups and events that have been happening in our coworking area at night. With room for 100 people seated at desks with power and fast internet or 150 people in chairs, we can handle just about any meetup in town.

We’re already booked 3-4 nights a week with events such as Austin on Rails, Lean Startup Circle, Refresh-Austin and the WordPress Meetup – just to name a few. We also have hack-a-thons and other events happening once or twice a month on the the weekends.

We’re attracting national attention. We were on the front page of CNN for a week and representatives from a handful of other states have come to visit us to learn more about what we do.

Overall I’m very happy with how things are going but there is still a lot of work to do in order to make this a sustainable resource for the Austin startup community.

Over the next few months we will be adding some additional conference rooms and a classroom. The classroom will be set up for about 40 students and will have video recording and streaming at the push of a button.

We will also be adding some glass walls to create more security for the private desks and also to make it easier to maximize use of the coworking area in the evenings and on the weekends. We’re also adding 4 more phone booths just for the coworking area.

After the construction, we will be doubling the number of private desks so that we can accommodate 125 Work Members.
