THE CENTER OF GRAVITY FOR ENTREPRENEURS IN TEXAS
We came, we conquered, we stepped into a new reality, and got down with some seriously tall dancing robots. A big thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate the opening of our first floor space. With this expansion, we’ve got 9,500 more square feet to help entrepreneurs keep kicking ass. We have offices, coworking, events, meetups, VR/AR…you know, all things tech.
Capital Factory is the “Center of Gravity for Entrepreneurs,” and with this expansion, we’ve grown to also become the Center of Gravity for tech events and emerging technologies. Our Ambassador of Emerging Technologies is here to educate you on all things VR in our VR Startup Village where we house Austin’s hottest VR startups. You can also test out some of the hottest VR/AR games in our new VR Arcade. Step inside Rick and Morty’s lab with the Rick & Morty Simulator: Virtual Rick-ality or getting your flow on in a Guided VR Meditation.
It was an honor to share the ribbon cutting ceremony with Austin Mayor, Steve Adler, and Texas State Representative, Lloyd Doggett. During the ceremony, Executive Director of Capital Factory, Joshua Baer, shared his ever-growing vision for the future of Capital Factory saying “when we started we were investors, mostly investing in companies and then we saw the power of coworking and bringing all these people together and…we realized what we needed was a place for the community to come together for events and…[Capital Factory became]…the place where everybody [can come] together.”
Since Capital Factory’s inception in 2009, Joshua has become a thought leader in emerging technologies saying that virtual reality is “a good fit for startups and coworking spaces. It costs a lot of money to buy all the [virtual reality] equipment and takes up a lot of space. [This is] a good thing to share for multiple people to use.”
During our Grand Opening, kids of all ages got to experience virtual reality for free with Capital Factory’s VR team. Mayor Adler even joined in on the fun–testing his basketball skills on the virtual NBA court.
All in all, we couldn’t be more excited to share this space with Austin’s tech community. Joshua said is best, “we’ve opened up some incredible new event space to make available to the startup community for all kinds of other great things to happen.” We hope to see you in our new space soon.
