“Inside the Teenager Tech Mind” is a panel discussion that brings together some of the most interesting teens around to talk about tech in their lives and how they approach and use it to accomplish their work. This series will touch on a different aspect of their lives every month giving community members, STEM professionals, and even educators the chance to ask them questions about each topic. The idea is to educate adults about teens’ experience with technology in their everyday life and to help dispel any common myths about teens and technology. This program runs every 2nd Tuesday of the month.

August’s topic is:

The STEM/CS landscape according to Teen Girls

A panel of teen girls will sit down and talk about their experience finding STEM and CS opportunities in the Austin community. They will talk about the pros/cons of finding programs that match their interests. Each girl will have the chance to explain what their summer experience was like taking part in various STEM programs and what that has done to help their college chances. The girls will also discuss what type of job opportunities they have been able to find. Community members will have the opportunity to learn more from the panel by asking questions that are related to their experience in the STEM fields in order to understand their experiences.

The month of August is Women in Tech and we want to showcase various teen girls who are taking advantage of the opportunities the Austin STEM/CS community has to offer them. We encourage everyone to attend this event as you will have the chance to really learn what kinds of programs are offered to help encourage teen girls to join STEM programs. Each girl will have gone through some kind of STEM program either through their school or outside program before being able to speak.

This panel of students will be moderated with a mix of prepared questions and audience member questions.
