The C1 Innovation Lab and The DEC Network are pleased to host a panel discussion featuring women in healthcare, tech and innovation.

Women tech founders, Dr. Lyndsey Harper, Maria Schneider, and Amy Looper will discuss their experiences in the healthtech space, their perspective on where the industry is headed, and how the community can continue to push the boundaries on new innovations.

This complimentary event is open to all health innovators, entrepreneurs, start-ups, potential partners, advisors and other health collaborators in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

Parking and arrival

If you choose, you can park in the visitors parking under The Centrum building that can be accessed off Welborn St. Please note that there is a low cost parking fee at The Centrum.

Once parked, head upstairs to the lobby, walk across the courtyard past Matito’s. The space can be located by The DEC and Capital Factory logos on the windows. Please enter on the first floor.

Moderator and Panelists

Dr. Lara Ashmore, Director of Emerging Technologies, UT Dallas

Dr. Lara Ashmore founded the Emerging Technologies Lab at the Brain Performance Institute at the Center for BrainHealth at University of Texas at Dallas. She oversees the Virtual Reality Lab as well as the design and implementation of digital and mobile learning programs. She also manages the development of The BrainHealth Project technology platform and cognitive-enhancement technologies.

Prior to joining the Brain Performance Institute, Dr. Ashmore founded Inspire Brilliance, a Dallas-based agency offering consultation services for strategic planning, project optimization and targeted research solutions by synergizing philanthropy, technology and innovation. In 2018, she was selected as an honoree of the Dallas Business Journal’s 5th Annual Women in Technology Awards and in 2019 she was invited as a Visionary for Laval Virtual’s Think Tank in France.

Dr. Ashmore received her Ph.D. in Educational Technology from the University of Virginia. Her area of research was Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences, combined with advanced Internet technologies to increase learning outcomes. While completing her doctoral dissertation, she worked at the University of Virginia Advanced Technology Group in R&D and with America Online during the earliest stages of the World Wide Web era.

Her research interests include neuroengineering, wearable technologies, virtual and augmented reality, immersive learning environments, and innovation. In 2019, she co-founded the VR for Good Meet-Up in Dallas-Fort Worth to catalyze inspiration and collaboration for social impact uses of XR.
