Jason’s entire career has been focused on the intersection of technology, economics and commerce. Most recently Jason served as the EVP of Operations for uShip, the world’s largest online marketplace for shipping. In 2007, Jason founded MindBites, a marketplace and publishing platform for instructional video content backed by True Ventures. Previously, Jason was one of the early founding executives at Kiva Systems, the autonomous mobile robotics company based in Boston that was acquired by Amazon in 2012.
Prior to Kiva, Jason was one of the early founding group at FreeMarkets Online, the pioneering b2b e-commerce company, helping them grow from a 17-person startup through their record-breaking IPO in December 1999 into a 1200-person global technology company. Earlier in his career, Jason worked at the strategic consulting firm of McKinsey and Company in both Houston and Argentina.
Jason holds an Economics degree from Texas A&M University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Jason lives in Austin, Texas and enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and two small children, volunteering, studying world’s religions and economic development, tooling around in his Jeep and following the San Antonio Spurs.
Jason is currently coming off of a sabbatical, advising several early stage companies and actively planning his next adventure. He is interested in working on novel systemic solutions to large problems and is intrigued by a range of spaces including the applications of autonomous robotics and machine learning, new education models, next generation financial platforms, marketplaces and neuroscience-based businesses. Focus isn’t his strong suit (or writing in the third person).
