Element3

Element3 is a critical minerals extraction startup pioneering lithium recovery from oil and gas wastewater. The team is commercializing a novel lithium extraction process, leveraging a proprietary flexible sorbent and comprehensive IP estate, some of which was developed at Oak Ridge National Labs. Element3 deploys its turnkey skid-mounted extraction plants at midstream water processing facilities in the Permian Basin, plugging into existing infrastructure and adding additional processing to existing workflows. They extract the lithium on-site, then transport it to their lithium carbonate conversion facility in Midland, after which the materials are refined and sold to OEMs, battery manufacturers, etc. The team is backed by a deep bench of investors, including Cubit Capital as well as strategics like the Double Eagle family office. Element3 is leveraging a vast latent resource to contribute to a domestic U.S. lithium supply chain, capitalizing on a significant market opportunity. The team has completed multiple field demonstrations of the extraction technology and is now moving to commercialization, building out its Midland facility.
