INVESTING IN THE NETWORK CREATED BY THE HENRY CROWN FELLOWSHIP
In 2023, Capital Factory’s CEO & Founder Joshua Baer (Henry Crown Fellow) and General Partner Lawton Cummings launched the Fellowship Fund to invest in startups founded by the unprecedented set of entrepreneurs who are Henry Crown Fellows. Each year, the Aspen Institute selects an elite group of 20-22 entrepreneurial leaders who have achieved the highest rungs of success before the age of 45 to participate in the Henry Crown Fellowship, through which they “move from success to significance.” Henry Crown Fellows have consistently launched industry-changing companies including LinkedIn, Netflix, Pandora, Evite, Eventbrite, Care.com, and Athena Health.
Before launching the Fund, we tested this thesis with our own money resulting in 8.75x growth over five years. We launched the Fund in January of 2023, and more than 90 HCF alumni became the first investors, helping drive deal flow and serving as an advisory board to the portfolio.
SPECIAL ACCESS TO THE BEST STARTUPS IN THE WORLD
We don’t lead investments, and the investments aren’t sector specific. What they have in common is their founders are the most successful serial entrepreneurs, and we invest alongside the highest tier venture firms in the country. These are the hardest deals to gain access to, and because of our affinity within the Henry Crown community, the founders have made room for the fund in oversubscribed and already closed rounds and have reduced the minimum investment size. This truly is special access to the best startups in the world.
